4 little touches to make your engagement party extra special
Following the trend from over the pond, engagement parties are becoming more and more popular in the UK. They’re not only a way of celebrating your upcoming nuptials, but a way of introducing and breaking the ice between the extended friends and families of both parties before the big day.
I’ve come up with four ways you could make your wedding party extra special whether your budget is strict or flexible.
1. Engagement party invitations
Having physical invites is always special and makes the event feel more important than just a quick Facebook event. Whilst the majority of us may consider using Facebook or email as a way of spreading the word for our engagement party, what about our friends and family who aren’t active online?
Even if it’s just sending some invitations to a few choice family members, they will really appreciate the extra thought and you’ll have a little piece of memorabilia from your wedding planning journey.
View the invitations I have on offer here, they are fully customisable and can be designed to celebrate any event: www.alicejadedesigns.co.uk/collections/wedding-invitations
2. Break the ice with a memory box
Start building you wedding journey memories and get your guests talking all in one go.
A memory box is an excellent ice-breaker when passed amongst your guests with instructions to fill it up! Those who have not yet met will soon be encouraged to talk and laugh together while getting involved in making memories. You could use an instant camera or even just ask them to write their advice or ideas for the wedding on pieces of paper and put them into the box.
It could be fun to set them a challenge to take a photo with someone they haven’t met or don’t know well – that should get them all talking!

3. Save the dates as party favours
Let’s face it, if you’re thinking about the guest list for your engagement party, you’re probably considering the date and venue for the big day. We all know that posting your save the dates and invitations to all of your guests can be an expense in itself, so halve the price of the postage of your save the dates by giving them out as favours to those are attending the engagement party!
My save the dates start at £1.10 and are fully personalised with a range of colours and materials. You can view them here: www.alicejadedesigns.co.uk/collections/save-the-dates
4. Top it all off with a cake topper
Who doesn’t love a bit of cake at a party? So why wait until the wedding to make the cake a spectacle? Cake toppers are a quick and easy way to make your cake a sight to behold, on a budget. My cake toppers start from £8 and come in a variety of colours and materials so you can make them fit your theme perfectly.

The engagement party is a preview for the wedding and shouldn’t out-shine the big day, however, you’ll want to make it a date to remember. Adding some small touches could help you do that.
