Save the date! A simple run-down of when to do what for your summer wedding
Your closest family and friends will already know everything about your wedding and how your plans are progressing, we’re betting they’ve heard all your dreams and aspirations in the recent weeks! And there’s a good chance you’ve been given a lot of advice on the whole thing, including when to do what.
We’ve researched the timings and come up with some straight forward advice for you on when to think about your guests during the run-up to your summer wedding…
Accept the marriage proposal
Obvious. Excitedly tell everyone who might care and show off the ring!
Set the date
Unless you’re very spontaneous…
Book the venue
Most things during the planning of a wedding hinge on something else being confirmed first. Finding and booking the venue is one of the first things to do, to get the wedding planning ball rolling.
With six to eight MONTHS to go, send your save the date cards
If you’re planning a wedding for summer 2018, now is the time to arrange your save the date cards…
With the venue confirmed you could send invitations now, but with over half a year to go, a lot could change. Caterers will not be confirmed yet, so you can’t ask your guests to choose their meal and invitations could get misplaced this early in the year. Keep the pressure off your guests, but get them excited for you by sending save the date cards.
Between six and four WEEKS before the big day; send your invitations
Now’s the time to get your guests really excited and send them into a wedding frenzy! Who will they bring, what will they eat, what will they buy for the happy couple? Your wedding gift list will be confirmed by now, as will your caterers, your venue will be able to confirm maximum numbers and you can even include nearby hotel accommodation information in your invitations.
At the same time - Organise table plans, cake topper, guestbook and favours
With around four weeks to go, you can start enjoying putting the little special touches to your summer wedding. Cake toppers, unique wedding guestbooks, favours, table plans, and place names are the small things that bring the whole theme of your wedding together. Four weeks should be plenty of time to get some friends together to make up the favours, or order bespoke table plans.
Alice Jade Designs can help you with those special touches; save the date cards, wedding invitations, wedding guestbooks, table plans, craft shapes to name favours with, and cake toppers are all on our website, and can be designed to match your theme, produced in wood or acrylic.
